How to Apply : Master of Science in Aural Habilitation/Deaf Education
The deadline for submission of application materials for the Master of Science in Aural Habilitation/Deaf Education program is February 1st.
Students holding a Baccalaureate Degree must apply directly to the University of
South Florida Graduate School Admissions Office. Please specify program code ARH on the application.
In addition to the online application, the applicant must submit:
- Official transcripts for all coursework completed to date.
- Official GRE scores from Educational Testing Service (Institution code: 5828, Department Code: 0620).

The application form, transcripts and GRE forms should be submitted to the Graduate Admissions Office. The USF Graduate Admissions office cannot receive electronic transcripts. The mailing address for that office is:

Admission criteria

Undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university. All educational backgrounds are acceptable for application, however those with undergraduate degrees in education, special education, deaf education will have fewer co-requisites to take in the first year of the program.
- Pre-requisites: The following courses must be taken prior to beginning the program.
- 8 credits of American Sign Language (or equivalent test results)
- 2-3 credits of Introduction to Education, Introduction to Teaching, or similar
- Co-requisites: If you come from a background other than education, special education, or deaf education you will be required to take co-requisite courses, that must be taken in the first year (2 semesters) of the program:
- 6 credits of Methods of Teaching, in two of the following areas: Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies.
- GPA of 3.2 or above for the last 60 hours of coursework completed.
- Minimum GRE scores as follows: 52nd percentile (about 460) on the verbal portion, or the 52nd percentile (about 4) on the writing section AND the 32nd percentile (about 470) on the quantitative section, taken within 5 years preceding application.
Transferring from Another Program
Students seeking to change their graduate program must reapply for admission to another program within the Department or University. Students may not transfer from one program to another without the completion of internal program transfer forms and approval by appropriate admissions committees.
